Pg 359 states: "The only remaining heirs male of the Vauses of Dirleton, settled in Galloway, were descended from a younger son. The first known in the district was Alexander Vaux, who was Bishop of Galloway in 1426, and it is stated that it was his nephew who obtained Barnbarroch, &c."
