Anthony remained at home and managed the estate. History of the Lands and Their Owners in Galloway, FHL 941.49 h2m 1994 v. 5, pg 96 states: "on the 17th November 1740, Anthony Heron, third son to Patrick Heron of Heron, now designed Patrick M'Kie of Netherlaw, had sasine of the lands of Netherlaw, East and West, Balchester, Chapeltoun, etc." It appears that some time after 1800, Patrick Heron [probably Anthony's nephew by his brother Patrick, the heir] sold the lands to Samuel Doughlas, 5th son of John Douglas of Newton or Castle Douglas.
It also appears that Anthony did not have any issue.
