History of the Lands and Their Owners in Galloway, FHL 941.49 H2m 1994, v. 5, p310 states that Alexander and his spouse [Janet Crawford]"had a charter of alienation, dated 1st June 1551, confirming to them the five merk land of Portencorkie, etc. Also a charter confirming to him and his spouse the five merk land of Kirkbride and four merk land of Garrochtrie, all in the parish of Kirkmaiden." It further states that "He married secondly in 1592, Katherine, sister to Andrew Agnew of Lochnaw, and relict of Patrick Agnew of Larg, parish of Minnigaff, who had a liferent of Portencorke and Carrochtrie." This obviously is inaccurate because Patrick Agnew was her father, and she was the relict of Alexander McKee of Larg, Minnigaff parish.
