History of the Lands and their Owners in Galloway 941.49 H2m V 2, pg 49 states: "The first mention of this five merk land property [Clanyard] is about the year 1490, when Alexander Gordon (crossed out is son of Sir Alexander of Lochinvar and handwritten in margin is) of Auchenreoch, parish of Urr, 2nd son of Wm Gordan of Kitchell (Roxburghshire) & Lochinvar, became the owner. The Book of Mackay, pg 355

History of the Lands and Their Owners in Galloway, FHL 941.49 H2m 1994, v. 5, p310 states that Alexander and his spouse [Janet Crawford]"had a charter of alienation, dated 1st June 1551, confirming to them the five merk land of Portencorkie, etc. Also a charter confirming to him and his spouse the five merk land of Kirkbride and four merk land of Garrochtrie, all in the parish of Kirkmaiden." It further states that "He married secondly in 1592, Katherine, sister to Andrew Agnew of Lochnaw, and relict of Patrick Agnew of Larg, parish of Minnigaff, who had a liferent of Portencorke and Carrochtrie." This obviously is inaccurate because Patrick Agnew was her father, and she was the relict of Alexander McKee of Larg, Minnigaff parish.
