Chart from "The Clan Mackay" - families of McKee or McKie or Mackie living in Galloway; "The Book of Mackay" p 355 says James was "of Crosbie" Sasine 1691 mentions James and Robert
History of the Lands and Their Owners in Galloway states that Patrick of Barjarock was the brother of Robert Makie of Corsbie, who was father of John M'Kie in Penninghame, who succeeded. However, the years do not work, and Book of Mackay states that Patrick was the brother of James of Crosbie.
Book of Mackay p 357 states "a son [of Alexander and his wife Katherine Agnew] who had three sons (Alexr.; Patrick, who succeeded to Larg, 1646; and James of Crosbie, who had a son Robert, whose son John in 1691 succeeded to Larg and Palgown)." This is probably in error, since the Inquisition lists James of Crosbie's father as Patrick, Baillie of Minnigaff. Editors have accepted the Inquisition.
