Since William's contract of marriage with Elizabeth Dunbar was 29 Mar 1574, and he had a charter with his other wife Marie M'Culloch of Cardiness 8 Mar 1584, then Janet must have been born prior to his marriage with Elizabeth, unless her contract of marriage was signed when she was four years old
