The bride selected a wedding gown of white satin with long Court train arranged with natural orange blossoms; she was followed by her sister, who looked very well in a dress of white corded silk spotted with silver, the bodice finished off by a sash of mauve silk, fastened in front by a large silver buckle, and her hat was of white felt adorned with ostrich tips. The reception was afterwards held at 31 Gloucester Terrace, Hyde Park, after which Mr and Mrs F D S Fayrer left for the south coase for their honeymoon.1 |

He was 19 years old and was educated at The Knoll, Woburn Sands and at Tonbridge. In August 1914, he received a commission in the 22nd London Regiment and in the spring of 1915 he went to France. After being in the trenches for five weeks he was given a nomination for Sandhurst, and he passed out from there last Christmas and obtained a commission in the Queen's.1 |

Note* | 13 August 1932 | The Services - Royal Navy Captain of the Arethusa Lieutenant-Commander Cyril W Bower, DSC, RN, whose appointment as Captain-Superintendent of the Arethusa Training Ship was announced in The Times a few days ago, passed out from the training cruiser Cumberland as midshipman in December 1910 and has thus had over 21 years service in the Royal Navy. When the War broke out he was a sub-lieutenant of the destroyer Laforey, in the Third Flotilla at Harwich. In March 1916, he was appointed first lieutenant of the Harpy and in December 1917, of the new destroyer Michael. He was awarded the DSC in September 1918, for service in action against enemy submarines. In 1923-25 he served in the Hawkins, flagship in China, and in 1928-30 as first lieutenant-commander of the Despatch, flagship on the America and West Indies Station. His last appointment has been as executive officer of the Champion, gunnery and torpedo school cruiser, at Portsmouth.1 |
