The LDS Church as records from England in the files and this what I found there. Could this be our Meador family??????. Your guess is as good as my.

Meador

Ambrose MEAD Christening: 1 Sep 1583 St. Marys, Watford, Hertford, England Father: Willm. MEAD

Willm. MEAD Christening: 8 Aug 1585 St. Marys, Watford, Hertford, England Father: Wm. MEAD

Tho. MEAD Christening: 10 May 1590 St. Marys, Watford, Hertford, England Father: Willm. MEAD

The Meador family: Note this lineage lines was sent to me by Meador family member. There is wonder researcher by the name June Bork. She post on the net her findings. I am posting her finds with JB to let you know she the one who did this wonderful work.

First of all I would like to thank Mr. Victor Paul Meador for let me copy some of the things that he has found and published in his book MEADOR FAMILES OF VIRGINIA AND POINTS WEST. If any would like write Mr. Meador email me I will give his address. When do post Mr. Meador findings I will use VPM for his finds.

VPM. Both Thomas and a possible brother Ambrose Meador, had their passages paid by others, to whom they were surrendered their "headrights grants" pf 50 acres of land each in 1636. Ambrose settled in Isle of Wright County, Virginia There is one more link for these men as brothers. Ambrose left Isle of Wright County, Virginia and settled Northeast shore of the Rappahannock River. What is now Richmond Co. Ambrose owned 1000 acres and Thomas own 750 acres.

To find these land records go to the Library of Virginia. The link for his site is below.

The Library of Virginia

Victor Paul Meador says

"Ambrose Meador (d.ca.1661/1663) immigrated from England to Warrisquicke (later Isle of Wight) County, Virginia before 1636, and moved about 1649 to Lancaster County, Virginia. Descendants lived in Virginia and elsewhere."

and

"Thomas Meador (d.1655) immigrated from England to Jamestown, Virginia in the early 1630s, with a possible brother/son Ambrose Meador. Thomas settled in Isle of Wight County, and moved about 1650 to the north- east shore of the Rappahannock River (in present Richmond County). No supporting evidence has been found of the ancestry of Thomas in England, though many believe his ancestry lived in Suffolk County. "Within these three volumes are named more than 37,000 descendants of Thomas meador and their spouses, encompassing up to sixteen generations. Is this everyone descended from Thomas Meador? Certainly not ..."--Introduction (v.1, p. 1). Descendants and relatives lived in Virginia, West Virginia, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Arizona, California and elsewhere."

(Old Rappahannock County Deed Book, 1652-1656, Ruth and Sam Sparacio, Antient Press, McLean, VA, 1990.)

How John MEADOR and Abraham COMBS were brothers-in-law remains unknown: Was John MEADOR'S wife Joan nee COMBS, as many researchers believe? Or were John and Abraham married to sisters? Or Abraham to a MEADOR? Likewise, the identities of Richard MEADOR and his father "John MEADOR now living" are not yet determined. Could "John MEADOR now living" have been the son of Thomas & Sarah (-----) Meador?

Janet: Please make note that Combs family states "They don't know which John is which. They mix the two Johns. John with son Richard is related to Thomas "Orphan" MEADOR Jr. Was born in 1638/1641 and died about 1662. And the John with wife Joan Combs is the son of Ambrose Meadors.

Is this land records this John land?

The Thomas in this land deed could this be Thomas JR. Found by JB

"JOHN MEADOR, 640 acres Rappahannock County: South side Rappahannock River on Beverday Southwest at the head of Hoskins' Creek, 20 April 1687, p.558. Beginning on South side of the old Beverday Southwest, near an Indian path; to a small island & etc., 450 acres granted Thomas Browning, 30 Nov 1657; assigned to John Cook, 4 May 1659; assigned to THOMAS MEDORS, 7 Aug 1659; & granted him 9 April 1664; 190 acres for transporting of 4 persons: John Chambers, JOSEPH CALLAWAY, Robert Duell, John Warrener."

"JOHN MEADOR was a politically powerful favorite of Royal Governor Berkeley and benefitted from a number of grants from the Royal government along the Rappahannock River in the 1660s. He was not a Puritan, but a Royalist. This is significant because it seems to indicate that JOSEPH CALLAWAY and the other 3 men was associated with the Royalist political faction and not the Puritans."

JB:DINAH Meador, daughter of John Meador Sr and 2/ Mary (?) Awbrey

Dinah was probably the first child of her father's second marriage, born about 1696-7 in Old Rappahannock County, Virginia and died between 1741/3 in Caroline County, Virginia. In her father's will of 1721, she was given only one shilling. Apparently this was because of her husband. Her mother, Mary Awbrey was a daughter of Richard Awbrey,. Dinah was the sister of Jonas and Jason Meadors. Jason had land dealings with JEFFREY CROWLEY (sometimes shown as CRAWLEY).

Dinah married about 1720 to George Tribble of Essex, son of Peter Trible (Essex Will Bk 6:142 dated 6 Apr 1738; probated 16 Jul 1739). Peter Trible of Southfarnham Parish in Essex County owned land near the Road that led from Piscataway Ferry to the Ferry over Hoskins Creek. The John Burnett (I) family lived on Piscataway Creek and the John Gatewood family lived on Hoskins Creek with a ferry going between the two. John Burnett II married Amee Gatewood. The Meadors were friends and neighbors of the two families. George and Dinah was found living in Spotsylvania County, Virginia by 2 October 1722 when he witnessed a deed for Larkin Chew. One month later, George purchased 228 acres from Larkin Chew in Spotsylvania County, although George had bought property in King and Queen County, he was still in Spots. County where he witnessed several more deeds for Larkin Chew. Finally by 1725, he and Dinah were living in King and Queen County when he sold the Nov 1722 land he purchased from Chew and then followed other family members to Caroline County by November of the following year. At this time, "George Tribble was fined in court for not keeping his road in repair." Since Dinah's brother Jonas Meador was appointed to take over in George's place, Jonas and brother Jason were probably living in the same neighborhood. George and Dinah Trible appear together as witnesses to the will of Abraham Brown On 14 Sep 1735 (Caroline Court Order Bk 1732-1740, p.275).

Dinah died there between 1741 and 1744 as on the latter date, George Trible was married to Ann (last name illegible). Fearful that George would embezzle the estate of Ann's late husband, two of the administrators demanded extra security from George and Anne Trible (Caroline Court Order Bk 1740-1746, p.306 dated 11 Aug 1744).

There were several children of this marriage, including:

1) George Tribble II

2) Joseph Tribble

3) Dinah Tribble

4) Rev. Andrew Trible (Tribble) was born 1741 in Caroline Co, Va; married Sally Ann Burris. An "Old Ironsides" Baptist minister, he was a Chaplain in the Virginia Line during the Revolution. He died in 1822 in Clark County, Kentucky. His descendants are well documented by the Kentucky Historical Society (Register of the Kentucky Historical Soc, Vol 24:187).
