WEBB was born on 16 Jan 1848 in Carroll County, Virginia.369 He died on 14 Mar 1912 in Carroll County, Virginia.370 He was buried in Lewis F. Webb
Cemetery, Carroll County, Virginia.371
Lewis and Nancy appear on the 1871 Carroll County birth register, but there
is no date or entry for a child.
Lewis was the sheriff killed in the Hillsville Court House Tragedy, the Allen
case by the Allens and Edwards. ( Webb Reunion, p.7)
According to the marriage register of Carroll County, Nancy was from Montgomery
County, and they were married by Isaac Webb.
On 15 Mar 1910, Lewis applied for a Civil War pension stating, "I was
in the home guard 4 months."
On 26 Apr 1918, Nancy applied for a Civil War widow's pension stating she
was born in "Mogurmey Co Va" and, "My children live with me."
This is the only document I have found with the full name of Lewis Franklin
Webb. It continues that Lewis "died 14 Mar 1912 at the court house County
of Carroll... was high sheriff and was shot and killed in court house tragy (sic)...
belonged to Home Guard under Captain Berry Combs... Served in Carroll - Grayson
- Floyd & Patrick Counties... In service 4 months until Lee Surrender." Lewis
F. WEBB and Nancy Elizabeth MULLINS were married on 18 Feb 1869 in Carroll County,

According to the marriage record Nancy was from Montgomery County. Nancy
