According to Jesse's marriage record his parents were Thomas and Mary.
"They lived on Burks Fork Creek for many years, but a few years before
1850, they moved to Orchard Gap. After moving to Orchard Gap, Jesse took up
the practice of medicine. Susan and Jesse lost four sons in the Civil War.
They were the parents of eleven children." (Quesinberry, Webb and Horton

The death register for Jesse reads died of liver disease. Susannah WEBB
and Jesse DICKENS had the following children:

War widow's pension 28 Nov 1921. She stated Thomas had been wounded, captured

Thomas joined the 48th VA REG VOL and was captured at South Mountain 4 Jul
1863. He was admitted to Hammon General Hospital at Point Lookout, Md. and died
