16. Susannah WEBB was born in 1804 in Grayson County, Virginia.2 She died in 1863.2 She was also known as Susannah Dickens. She was buried in Dr.Jesse Dickens Cemetery, Carroll County, Virginia.2

Susannah WEBB and Jesse DICKENS were married on 9 Sep 1824 in Grayson County, Virginia.65 Jesse DICKENS (son of Thomas DICKENS and Mary 'Millie' COCK) was born in 1803 in Grayson County, Virginia.66 He died on 12 Feb 1868 in Carroll County, Virginia.67,68 He died on 2 Dec 1868 in Carroll County, Virginia.12 He was buried in Dr.Jesse Dickens Cemetery, Carroll County, Virginia.2
According to Jesse's marriage record his parents were Thomas and Mary.
"They lived on Burks Fork Creek for many years, but a few years before 1850, they moved to Orchard Gap. After moving to Orchard Gap, Jesse took up the practice of medicine. Susan and Jesse lost four sons in the Civil War. They were the parents of eleven children." (Quesinberry, Webb and Horton Families, Carroll County, p.4)

The death register for Jesse reads died of liver disease. Susannah WEBB and Jesse DICKENS had the following children:

Thomas DICKENS Jr. died in Feb 1864.6 He died in 1864.62 He was born.
Millie Goad, widow of both Thomas Dickens and Peter Goad applied for a Civil War widow's pension 28 Nov 1921. She stated Thomas had been wounded, captured and died in prison. She included information about both husbands on the application.

Thomas joined the 48th VA REG VOL and was captured at South Mountain 4 Jul 1863. He was admitted to Hammon General Hospital at Point Lookout, Md. and died of chronic diarrhea.

Nancy DICKENS was born about 1826.69 She was also known as Nancy Edwards.

Mary DICKENS was born on 22 Jan 1830 in Grayson County, Virginia.34,70 She died in 1862.6 She was also known as Mary Bond.

Sarah DICKENS was born about 1832 in Carroll County, Virginia.3 She was also known as Sarah Edwards. She was also known as Sarah Hill.

Reuben DICKENS was born about 1835 in Virginia.71 He died on 23 Dec 1863 in Catoosa Hosp., Griffin, Georgia.6 He was buried in Stonewall Conf., Cem #63.6
Joined 45 Va. Inf. 29 May 1861 at Wytheville.

Jesse DICKENS was born about 1839 in Carroll County, Virginia.3 He died on 23 Nov 1863.6

Webb DICKENS was born in 1842 in Carroll County, Virginia.3 He died in 1900.6 He was buried in Dr.Jesse Dickens Cemetery, Carroll County, Virginia.72
There is a grave marker for a Webb Dickens in the Dickens Cemetery, Hillsville, VA which reads Co. I, 45th VA Inf. CSA.
He deserted, 15 May 1862, and was captured at Cloyd's Farm, 9 May 1864. (Scott, 45th Infantry)

Elizabeth is listed on the Surry County, N.C. marriage register as the daughter of Jesse and Susannah Dickens.

The marriage register reads married 14-16 May 1906.
