Third Generation
37. William WEBB
was born about 1811 in Carroll County, Virginia.164
William and Milly had two sons who were killed in the war. (Alderman, 1850
Census: Annotated, p.18 (#160)). William WEBB and Margaret Amelia 'Milly'
DALTON were married in 1831 in Grayson County, Virginia. Margaret
Amelia 'Milly' DALTON (daughter of Timothy DALTON and Elizabeth 'Betsy' PHILLIPS)
was born about 1813 in Virginia.73
She was also known as Margaret Amelia 'Milly' Webb. William WEBB
and Margaret Amelia 'Milly' DALTON had the following children:
+223 | i. | Giles WEBB was born about 1835 in Virginia.165 He died about 1865 in the war.
Giles the son of this family is listed on the 1860 census with his parents
and is apparently the Giles William listed on the 1870 census with Greenville
Webb. It is possible that when Giles Sr. died and Engeliza remarried to Hiram
Puckett, Giles Jr. left home. In the 1870 census there is a Hiram Puckett 46,
with Engeliza age 45 and apparently two of the children from her previous marriage:
Milly A. age 11 and James A. age 15. There is no Giles listed with them in this
census. Giles Jr. has apparently been listed as a child of Greenville as he
was found on the 1870 census with that family. | 224 | ii. | Andrew C. WEBB was born about 1845 in
Virginia.73 He died on 18
Mar 1864 in Atlanta, Georgia.41
It is believed that this is the Andrew C. who enlisted 18 Nov 1862 at Camp
Jackson as a private in Co. I 63 Regt Va Inf. He was hospitalized 24 Jan 1864
and died 18 Mar 1864 at Atlanta, Georgia. (National Archives military records) |
