8. Susannah WEBB was born about 1795.29 She was also known as Susannah Dickens.

Susannah WEBB and Benford DICKENS were married. Benford DICKENS (son of Thomas DICKENS and Mary 'Millie' COCK) was born on 7 Oct 1782 in Virginia.33 He died on 7 Jun 1867 in Carroll County, Virginia.33
There is much confusion regarding the makeup of this family. The Webb Reunion Minutes of 1933, 1934, and 1935 mentions the marriage of Susannah and Benford. The 1850 Carroll County census shows Benford, Elsa, (Elsa Surratt), and Lavinia living together with Jonathan, Ransom, and Hiram Dickens and their families living nearby which has lead some researchers to the conclusion that all the children were Elsa's. No marriage bonds or records can be found for either marriage. It is likely he married Elsa Surratt in North Carolina.

According to John P. Alderman there were nine children in all. It is believed that the family presented here is correct although proof remains to be found. I have been unable to locate descendants of Benford Dickens who are able to help trace this family. Kelly Webb wrote, "I believe Susannah died between (the birth of) Ranson and Hiram (offspring of Benford). Then Benford married Ailce Surratt." Another clue to the assignment of the children is that when Hiram named a daughter Elsa, it was to honor his mother, Elsa Surratt. Susannah WEBB and Benford DICKENS had the following children:
