"Lucy and Isaac lived on a farm that William Banks gave them not long
after 1850. After the Civil War, Isaac ran the mills; apparently the mill on
Big Snake Creek and the mill on Little Snake Creek. The mills were owned by

lbs.... For many years he was Postmaster at Snake Creek, Va., and a partner
in the mercantile business with Isaac D. Phillips. He was elected to represent
the county and served in the House of Delegates for two terms." (from obituary
