ELMER LINDSAY KIDNEY, Pittsburgh attorney and prominent in philanthropic, religious, and educational affairs, was born January 14, 1872 in Maryland, son of Rev. Joseph F. Kidney and Julia A. Kidney. He attended preparatory schools, Wesley Collegiate Institute, Dover, DEL (Graduate, class of 1889).

Mr. KIDNEY was admitted to the Allegheny County bar on June 16, 1894, and immediately began the practice of his profession in Pittsburgh. He has attained high standing among the members of his profession.

He is a trustee of Beaver College, and member of the board of managers of Hamilton Home for the Aged. He is a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, of which demonination his father was a minister. He is a member of the Methodist Episcopal Board of Home Missions and Church Extension, the Council of Boards of Benevelence, and three times has been a member of the General Conferences in 1912, 1916, and 1920; member, Federal Countil of Churches of Christ in America; executive committee, International Sunday School Association, Methodist Ecumenical Conference, which met in London, England, in September 1921; member, Commission on Unification between the Methodist Episcopal Church and the Methodist Episcopal Church (South) and director of the Methodist Episcopal Deaconess Home; and a trustee and treasurer of the Centenary Fund Society. He is also director of Bellevue Realty Savings and Trust Company. He is a member of the Criterion Club, Iron City Fishing Club and Shannopin Country Club of Pittsburgh, and the Masonic Order. On April 24, 1902, Mr. KIDNEY married Florence I. Boyle of Pittsburgh.
