Hattie A. Durga (ca. 1862-1880) and Abner Curtis

Hattie A Durga was born around 1862 in Michigan, daughter of Benjamin Durga and Phebe Fillmore. She was married around 1879 to Abner Curtis. Hattie died in July of 1880, probably as a result of giving birth. She is interred in Linwood Cemetery. The Grand Traverse Herald? published an account of her death on XX July 1880.

Health good, as a general thing, but nonwithstanding, we have been called to witness the burial of two of our number the past week. Mrs. Hattie Curtis the young wife of A. Curtis, died last Monday. She was a lady held in the highest esteem by all who knew her. She was one of the charter members of the Long Lake W.C.T.U. That body deeply mourns her loss. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Mr. Smith of Traverse City, at the Central school house on Tuesday. She was interred at the new cemetery near the above named school house. The bereaved husband and friends have the true sympathy of all who were acquianted with the deceased...W.S."

i. Frankie Curtis was born in July 1880 and died 9 August 1880. This child is buried in Linwood Cemetery.
