Byron Fillmore (1862-1943) and Kate Hyde (1863-????)

Byron William Fillmore born 4 December 1862 in Hillsdale County, Michigan, son of Eliphalet Fillmore and Clarissa Worden. He was married on 23 Dec 1883 in Grand Traverse County, Michigan to Kate May Hyde. Kate was born in July 1863 at Manton, Ohio daughter of S H and Julia Hyde. William worked as a laborer and lived at 315 Maple Street in Traverse City. William died from myocarditis on 19 December 1943 in Grand Traverse County, Michigan. Byron's obituary was published on 20 November 1943 in the Traverse City Record Eagle.

"OLD RESIDENT DIES SUDDENLY

BYRON W. FILLMORE CAME HERE IN 1864

Byron W. Fillmore, 80, pioneer resident of this city and the Grand Traverse region, died at his home 315 South Maple Street Friday noon following a heart attack. Mr. Fillmore had been in apparently good health and his death came as a shock to his family and friends.

Mr. Fillmore was born in Hillsdale County, Michigan, December 4th 1862 and came here with his parents when two years old, the family settling in Long Lake township.

With his father Mr. Fillmore operated a sawmill at the southeast end of Long Lake. He followed the lumber industry during the region's early days.

He was married to Kathryn Hyde of Garfield township in 1883. For twenty years he was employed at the J. Ogden Armour estate, retiring 6 years ago.

Left to mourn their loss besides his widow are two sons and one daughter, Harry B and Lawrence L Fillmore, both of this city, and Mrs. Florence M. Tebo of this city: two grandchildren and one great grandchild. Another daughter Mrs. Marjorie Sachtleben preceded him in death eight years.

The body was taken to the Hibbard Chapel where it will remain until time of services to be held Monday afternoon at two-thirty with the Rev. Howard R. Towne officiating. Burial will be made in the family lot in Oakwood Cemetery."

i. Harry Byron Fillmore was born in 5 January 1885 in Grand Traverse County, Michigan. Harry died on X October 1947 at Mercy Hospital in Grayling, Crawford County, Michigan. He is buried in Oakwood Cemetery in Traverse City. His obituary was published on 9 October 1947 in the Traverse City Record Eagle.

H. FILLMORE IS TAKEN BY DEATH

Harry Fillmore, 62, a resident of Traverse City for many years, died Wednesday evening at Mercy hospital in Grayling following a two weeks illness.

Mr. Fillmore was born January 5, 1885 three miles west of this city, and spent nearly all his life in this community. For the past few years he has been an employee of the Burns and Wynkoop Company of this city.

Surviving, besides his mother, Kathryn Fillmore of this city are one brother Lawrence, and one sister, Mrs. Louis Tebo. Also of this city. His father and one sister preceded him in death. The body was taken to the Hibbard Chapel, where funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock with Dr. Howard Towne offiating. Burial will be made in the family lot in Oakwood cemetery."

ii. Marguerite Lela Fillmore was born 25 October 1887 in Garfield township.

iii. Florence Fillmore was born in 28 May 1889 in Grand Traverse County.

iv. Lawrence LaVerne Fillmore was born 6 June 1891 in Garfield township.
