Ebenezer Ransom (1879-1942) and Alice Leggett (1885-1942)

Ebenezer Ransom was born 12 April 1879 in Almira township, Benzie County, son of Elijah Ransom and Edna Fillmore. He was married 5 December 1905 in Grand Traverse County to Alice Leggett. Alice was born 29 April 1885 in Mayfield township, Grand Traverse County the daughter of Allen and Alma Leggett. Ebenezer worked as a mechanic in 1908. Alice died in May 1942. His obituary was printed on 5 May 1942 in the Traverse City Record Eagle.

"Mrs. E. Ransom Taken by Death

Mrs. Ebb Ransom, well-known resident of this city, died early this morning at her home, 420 East Front Street, after a long illness.

Alice Leggett was born at Monroe Center April 29th 1885, and on December 6th, 1905 was married to Ebb Ransom, the couple settling in this city which had since been her home.

Surviving are two children, Clarabelle, at home and Harold at Gaylord, two grandchildren; two sisters Mrs. Mary Nord of the city and Mrs. Alma Duell of Seattle, Washington, three brothers, Edward Leggett of Route 4; Frank of Buckley and Harry of Detroit besides many other relatives and friends.

The body will remain at the home until eleven o'clock Friday morning when it will be taken to the Central Methodist Church where services will be held at two o'clock with Rev. Richard C. Miles officiating. Interment will be made in the family lot in Oakwood Cemetery."

Ebenezer died 11 September 1967. Both are buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Traverse City.
