Irinda Chase (1867-1940) and her husbands David Wares (ca. 1867-1898), Herbert Sedgewick (ca. 1867-????), Henry Dalzell, and Adam Steinbaugh (????-1932)

Irinda Chase was born 20 March 1867 in Long Lake township, daughter of Ira Chase and Susanah Fillmore. She was married first on 14 January 1888 at Long Lake to David Wares. David was born around 1867 in Hillsdale County, Michigan. David died 19 June 1898 at Long Lake, the son of William and Almeda Conant Wares. His father's brother was David Wares, who had married Irinda's mother. He is buried in the Long Lake cemetery. Irinda married second on 5 August 1897 in Traverse City to Herbert Sedgewick. The ceremony was performed by Samuel Brown, Justice of the Peace, and was witnessed by Ida Stott and Elmer Brown of Traverse City. Herbert was born in 1867/1868 in New York, son of Thomas and Cornelia Ferguson Sedgewick. Herbert worked as a mason and lived in Traverse City at the time of the wedding.

Irinda was married third in 1902 in Leelanau County Henry Dalzell. She was married fourth to Adam Steinbaugh. They lived in New Mexico for a while before returning to Traverse City. Adam died on 14 November 1932. Irinda died 24 November 1940 and is buried in Linwood Cemetery. Her obituary was published in the Traverse City Record Eagle on 25 November 1940.

"DIES SUNDAY AT HOME IN BATES

Mrs. Irinda Chase Steinbaugh, aged 73 years, passed away at her home in Bates Sunday forenoon after a long illness.

Mrs. Steinbaugh was born in Long Lake township March 20, 1867, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ira P. Chase, and there was married to David Wares, who passed away on April 13, 1898. Twenty-seven years ago she was united in marriage to Adam Steinbaugh and for a number of years resided in New Mexico. Mr. Steinbaugh died on November 14, 1932.

Surviving are two brothers, Don and E. B. Chase, both of this city, one sister, Mrs. Irene Bower of Muskegon, other relatives and many friends.

The body will repose at the Weaver Mortuary, Sixth at Pine streets, where services will be held Wednesday morning at 10:00 o'clock, Rev. Chester B. McKean, pastor of the Friends church officiating. Interment will be made in teh family lot in Long Lake cemetery."

i. William Wares was born 7 June 1891 at Long Lake. He died 2 April 1892. He is buried in Linwood Cemetery.
