Died, at her home at Long Lake, March 30, 1892, Mrs. C. E., wife of Wm. Lyon, aged 53 years 11 months and 16 days. The deceased was born in Hinkley, Ohio, April 14, 1839, moved with her parents to Hillsdale, Mich., in 1846. She was married to Wm. Lyon Dec. 24, 1857, and came to Grand Traverse in the spring of 1865, where she lived the remainder of her days. She joined the M. E. church at the age of 17 and remained a faithful worker until her death. Three children blessed their home. Two have gone before her. Her husband and one son are left to mourn the loss of a faithful wife and mother.

William was married around 1893 to Emma (or Hattie Chriseaden). Emma was born in April 1857 in Michigan (parents MI). William was reported to have poor health in February 1894[111]. In 1900, the Lyons lived on a farm in Long Lake twp[112]. William was sick in October 1900: William F. Lyon of Long Lake was stricken with paralysis Saturday, and is lying in a critical condition. His left side is entirely paralyzed. He is one of the earliest settlers of the county[113]. William Lyon died on 7 August 1906.  A death notice appeared in the Evening Record on 8 August 1906 (page 3):
