HAPPILY WEDDED YESTERDAY

Nuptials of Albert D. Redel and Miss Ida Stover

At the home of the bride's parents Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Stover of Garfield yesterday afternoon the words were said which made Albert D. Redel and Miss Ida Stover husband and wife. Mr. Redel, the bridegroom, is a prosperous farmer of Long Lake, a young man of excellent character and a member of the German Lutheran church of this city. The bride is an estimable young woman, a member of the Friends church at Long Lake, and is well trained for the high office to which she has been called.

After the ceremony the guests sat down to a sumptuous repast in honor of the occasion, which did credit to the home in which it was served. There were a number of good and useful presents, such as good taste would dictate. They have the prayers and best wishes of many friends.

Ida was born on 8 December 1881 in Jay Co., Indiana, daughter of F J and Amanda Stewart Stover. Her family was part of the movement of Friends' church members from southern Indiana north to Grand Traverse County. She was living at home in Garfield twp at the time of her marriage.

In 1880, Allie was working in a sawmill in Long Lake twp[8]. Allie was married on 6 August 1882 to Sarah Isabelle Henshaw. Our place had quite a sensation Aug. 6, occasioned by the marriage of one of our young ladies, Miss Belle Hinshaw being married to Allie Reynolds. We are sorry to lose Miss Belle from among us, but our loss will be Mr. Reynolds' gain. Belle was born in 1866/1867 in Indiana, daughter of Zemri and Julia Henshaw.

Allie purchased 20 acres of land shortly afterward. By late 1882 he was working in the lumber woods[9].

Belle died shortly after giving birth on 30 May 1883 (18-7m) in Long Lake twp[10]. Mrs. Allie Reynolds (better known by her maiden name, Miss Belle Hinshaw) died last Wednesday morning. Mrs. Reynolds had become greatly endeared to the entire community. Her sweet life was full of hope and promise, but the Lord willed otherwise, and her friends, especially among the young people, will long mourn for a dear one gone. The funeral services bore affecting testimony to the tender regard in which she was held. She was eighteen years old, and they were indeed "beautiful years." She was buried at Long Lake cemetery, May 3d, Rev. Mr. Hodgens officiating[11].

Family from Indiana arrived for the funeral: Mrs. Russell, aunt of the late Belle Reynolds, living in Indiana, was telegraphed to and came and attended the funeral of Mrs. Reynolds[12]. Belle was buried in Linwood Cemetery[13].

i.              Mabel Reynolds was born on 10 May 1883 in Long Lake twp[14]. This child died on 17 May (tombstone) or 30 May 1883 (death record) in Long Lake twp[15]. She is buried in Linwood Cemetery[16].

Lewis worked delivering logs for the Lake Ann Company in February 1892. He was elected School Inspector that April[25].

Lewis was killed on 8 February 1897 in Long Lake twp[26]. His obituary appeared in the Grand Traverse Herald on 11 February 1897:

L. K. Richardson

L. K. Richardson of Long Lake, son-in-law of J. M. Elliot, met a sad and sudden death on Monday morning, Feb. 8th. Mr. Richardson was loading logs with a team and tackle and had used a large dead but apparently sound stub as an anchor post. He was driving the team in loading when the log stuck fast and the "purchase" on the stub became too strong and it fell, crushing Mr. Richardson to the ground, killing him XXXXX quickly that the lines with which he was driving the horses still remained in his hands. Mr. Richardson was about 40 years old and leaves a wife and five children. Great sympathy is felt for the family in their terrible and sudden affliction.

In 1900, Sarah  rented a farm in Long Lake twp[27]. She and her mother were sick for a while in February and March of 1900.  She visited her daughter at Oviatt several times in 1900. Her nephew and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Ely of Cass County, visited in August 1900. Mr. and Mrs. Amos Kennedy visited in December 1900[28].
