John Curtis Welborn was born in 1826 in Monroe County, Kentucky, son of James W. Welborn and Mary (Polly) Biggers. John Welborn was married on 5 November 1848 in Wayne County, Indiana to Louisa Reynolds. Louisa was born in 1829/1830 in New Jersey, daughter of John Jeffrey Reynolds and Rebecca Cook.  The 1850 and 1860 census records indicate that the Welborns were living in New Garden township, Wayne County, Indiana² They moved to Cass County, Missouri between 1867 and 1870. In 1880 they were living their at West Peculiar. John worked as a farmer. Louisa appears to have died between 1880 and 1900. John died on 10 February 1904. They are buried in Peculiar Cemetery, Peculiar, Missouri.

3. Elizabeth Welborn was born in 1852/1855 in Indiana.

4. Amanda A Welborn was born in 1854/1855 in Indiana.

5. William J. Welborn was born in 1857/1858 in Indiana.

6. Albert F Welborn was born in November or December 1859 in Indiana.

7. Samuel R Welborn was born in 1861/1863. He was married to Belle. He died in 1934 and is buried in Peculiar Cemetery, Peculiar, Missouri. No children.

8. Mary Louella Welborn was born in 1864/1865 in Indiana.

8. William Ellison Welborn was born 14 May 1867 in Williamsburg, Indiana.
