For the Gazette.
At a camp meeting held by the Methodist
Society at the Boiling Spring, on Illinois Bayou,
in the County of Pope, on the 3rd September
the necessity of organizing a temperance soc-

Morris, the same took effect, and thereupon the
citizens then present organized themselves into
a society to carry out said purpose, and the
Rev. John Bruton was appointed President,
and Benjamin Langford, Esq., and Stephen
Rye, Esq. Vice Presidents, with seven Man-

of the Elder) by D. W. Coikett, Esq., who,
in a brief but sound speech, highly commenda-

cessity of the success of the cause.
The constitution was adopted, and seventy-
three members signed the pledge.  The num-

next, when an address (or more) will be deliv-
