The Descendants of Cormack Quinn

Generation One

1. Cormack1 Quinn was born circa 1814 at County Donegal, Ireland. He emigrated to the U.S. sometime before 1840. His given name has also appeared as Cormac and Cormick.

He married Ann Doherty probably about 1840.

He died on 29 Dec 1887 at North Easton, Bristol County, Mass. and was buried at Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery, North Easton, Bristol County, Mass.

Ann Doherty was born at Ireland. She married Cormack Quinn, son of (--?--) Quinn. She died in 1878 at North Easton, Bristol County, Mass. and was buried in 1878 at Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery, North Easton, Bristol County, Mass.

Generation Two

2. Charles William2 Quinn (Cormack1) was born in Feb 1841 in Mass. He married Bridget Keenan, daughter of Peter Keenan and Ann McArdle, on 26 Nov 1862 at Boston, Suffolk County, Mass. He is listed as William C. Quinn but the rest of the data clearly indicates he is Charles William Quinn. They were married on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving by a Peter Mendetti but there is no indication if this is a priest or Justice of the Peace.

The 1900 U.S. Census states she had 10 children of whom eight were living. (Who are the missing children?). He was buried on 30 Dec 1910 at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Boston, Suffolk County, Mass. He died in 1915 at North Easton, Bristol County, MA (?).

Bridget Keenan was born in May 1839 at County Donegal, Ireland. She married Charles William Quinn, son of Cormack Quinn and Ann Doherty, on 26 Nov 1862 at Boston, Suffolk County, Mass.

5. viii. Charles Joseph, born 1878; married Mary E. Whitten.

3. George E.2 Quinn (Cormack1) was born on 17 May 1844 at Easton, Bristol County, Mass. He married Ellen Carney, daughter of John Carney and Anne Callahan. He died on 23 Dec 1909 at Canton Street, Easton, Bristol County, Mass, at age 65. Cause of death was given as Valvular Heart Disease and Nephritis. He was buried on 25 Dec 1909 at Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery, North Easton, Bristol County, Mass.

Ellen1 Carney was born in Jan 1845 at Troy, Rensselaer County, New York; She married George E. Quinn, son of Cormack Quinn and Ann Doherty. She died on 5 Feb 1937 at 22 Canton street, Easton, Bristol County, Mass, at age 92. She was buried on 8 Feb 1937 at Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery, North Easton, Bristol County, Mass.

4. Elizabeth Frances3 Quinn (Charles2, Cormack1) was born on 12 Nov 1867 at Preble St., South Boston, Suffolk County, Mass. She married Michael Joseph Sughrue, son of John Sughrue and Julia Sullivan, on 22 Jun 1892 at St. Patrick's Church.

In June 1942, Bob volunteered for U.S. Navy Intelligence, was commissioned as a full Lieutenant with service number 241-13-76. He was sent to Naval Intelligence school in Frederick, Maryland and then Reserve Officer School at Fort Schuyler, New York. Assigned to Naval Intelligence in the First Naval District, Boston, Mass., he apparently longed for more active duty and volunteered for the Naval Armed Guard in September 1943. The following February he and his gun crew completed their training and he was assigned as commander of the armed guard on the SS Thomas Pollock.

Bob was released from active duty February 1946 but stayed in the naval reserve. In June 1949, he was promoted to Lt. Commander and finally resigned from the service in November 1953 after a total of 11 years of service.

5. Charles Joseph3 Quinn (Charles2, Cormack1) was born in 1878. He married Mary E. Whitten. He died in May 1928. He was buried on 14 May 1928 at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Boston, Suffolk County, Mass. He was a teetotaler and worked as a bartender for his father. He was also an epileptic and the family was fairly poor.

Mary E.1 Whitten was born in 1877. She married Charles Joseph Quinn, son of Charles William Quinn and Bridget Keenan. She died in 1953. She was buried on 8 Aug 1953 at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Boston, Suffolk County, Mass. She also went by the name of "Minnie."

6. Ann Marie3 Quinn (George2, Cormack1) was born on 2 Mar 1877 at Easton, Bristol County, Mass. She married James Francis Burke, son of Richard Burke and Anne Cassidy, on 19 Jun 1907 at Immaculate Conception Church, North Easton, Bristol County, Mass.. Witnesses were Daniel F. Buckley and Elizabeth C. Fitzgerald. The Pastor, the Rev. J. H. Looby performed the ceremony. The bride and groom were both from North Easton.

Children of Ann Marie3 Quinn and James Francis Burke were:
