Our Gibson Family Saga began in 1725 when our earliest known ancestor, James Gibson, was imported to Virginia. He made this statement during a court proceeding on April 6, 1736 (Middlesex County Wills and Inventories, and Other Court Papers, p. 267). Most Indentured servants were bought over anywhere from a lad old enough to work to a young man. So James was probably born between 1705 - 1713. We still do not know where he was born or who his parents were. A few years after being released from his bond of service, James met Elizabeth Isabel Crosby and they were married at Christ Church in Middlesex County, Virginia. James and Isabel had three sons: John, Henry and Churchill. These events were recorded in the Church Register. |
