      Melissa and Frank RICHARDSON are on the 1870 Jefferson County MO Federal Census living next to Henrietta. In the probate of of Henrietta Roger's estate in 1874-1876, Melissa RITCHESON is included as an heir.

    From Aunt Blanche (Pierce) Phelan, great-granddaughter of Henrietta and Isaac Rogers: "She (Henrietta) left Illinois because she had lost her husband and whatever other children during an epidemic of plague. She crossed the Mississippi River to get away from that infected place. She came to Jefferson Co. MO and homesteaded some land (probably 160 acres) on what is now Reynolds Creek Road. It is approximately 3 miles west, off Hillsboro - Morse Mill Road (1 1/2 miles west on Reynolds Creek Road is the place). They managed a cabin beside a spring with a stream and a living from the land. There were no improved roads then only wagon trails through the woods."

    [Note: Henrietta actually purchased three tracts of land in Jefferson County, Central Township, MO totalling 250 acres between 1856 and 1857. -jm]
