Charles' ggg-grandfather owned the land during the 1850s, until his death, and then his wife did until 1872.

Robinson Cemetery or better to call Rice Cemetery was located on the George Rice farm until 1872; when his wife, Mary, sold the property stating that there was a 1/4 acre cemetery on the south edge of the property.

I marked with a red X where the farm house was and where I believe there might be the cross for the cemetery.

It later became the Olin Robinson farm and is located west of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, south ca 1/2 mile from old Hwy. 34.

Thus the name Robinson becoming attached to the cemetery. The land owner now is Jim Kinney.

There are a row of houses just south of old highway 34. They parked close to one of the houses and walked ca 1/2 mile in, crossing the railroad on the way. There is a fence running east and west just as you get to the first grove of trees. Then a little further south there is another east-west fence, probably the south border of property. His notes say the cemetery is about half way between the two fences. The southernmost fence has metal posts on either end but in the middle there is a wooden post and two railroad cross-ties as posts. Also in the middle of the fence it changes from strictly barbed wire to a combination of barbed-wire and hog-wire. The markers of George and Sarah Rice were close to being in line with the transition from barbed-wire to the combination, according to his notes. He returned with his mother in the fall 1995.

This is an overview of the area, where they found the stones, in 1992.

Here is Charles Davis standing beside his ggg-grandfather George Rice's stone.
