Name: Valentine Martin
Sex: M
Birth: 18 JUN 1710 in St. Peter's Parish, New Kent Co., VA
Death: 1760 in Cumberland Co., VA
Note:

Will proved 28 Jul 1760, in Cumberland Co. There is no certain proof
that Jane's name was Bridgewater, but she and Daniel and Jane
Boatwright sold land in Cumberland Co. in 1778. Valentine owned
several hundred acres of land in Goochland Co. when he died. (Martin
Family Quarterly, vol XII, May 1986.)
Valentine's will states: "In the name of God, amen..... May the 21st,
1758, I, Valentine Martin...." et. al. gives land to son Orson, son
Valentine, son Jobe, sons Samuel and Isom, "but if Isom should die
without heir.... my son John Martin may have his part of the land.
(Isom did die and John did take ownership.) Item. I give and
bequeathe to my son John Martin one shilling stearlin." The rest of the
estate after further dispositons is left to "my beloved wife...."

Note that Paul, op. cit. says she was Jane Bridgwater, as I carry her
and her parents here.

Ver Paul, op. cit., says on his page in FTM, Jan., 2000:

Notes for VALENTINE MARTIN:
Valentine Martin and Jane Bridgwater were married about 1730 in
Henrico Co., Virginia. Valentine may be the same as Valentine Martin
who was christened 18 June 1710 in St. Peter's Parish, New Kent Co.,
Virginia, son of Martin Martin and Sarah Hix. [IGI] Jane Bridgewater,
who was born about 1710, was a sister of Samuel Bridgwater, and
probably they were children of Benjamin, Thomas, or Nathaniel
Bridgwater, who were, in turn, sons of Samuel and Frances Bridgwater
of Varina Parish, Henrico Co., Virginia. Thomas has been selected as
the most likely and included in this lineage. However, the connection
is suspect and requires additional research. Valentine and Jane moved
to Cumberland Co., Virginia, about 1739. Nicholas Davis of Henrico
County also
immigrated as many of the area did. Nicholas became Sheriff. Jane's
brother must have gone along as he witnessed Valentine's will dated
21 May 1758 and proved 10 July 1760. [Cumberland Co., Virginia,
Will Book 1, p. 203. Additional witnesses were Samuel Traylor and
David Thompson]. Family records are also found in Fluvanna and
Goochland Counties, Virginia.
