He I just got back from Salt Lake City for a computer conference and while I was there I was able to spend some time in the Family History Center there. I have some better information on Benjamin R. June now...
Up until now we only knew that Benjamin was Independance, Allegany, NY. Also in the same town was a David June living with the family of Emily Phantom. Possible guess was that Emily and Benjamin were David's children.
First, I was able to get the death certificate for Edmond June, his brother. On that certificate, it shows that their mother was Rebecca Stubbs. With this info, I decided to look at Stubbs in the area and I found them in Springfield, Williams, OH.
While looking them up, on the same page in 1840, I found Benjamin again. He wasn't listed in the normal indexes so I had missed him before. So now we know that Benjamin was in OH as early as 1840.
While browsing through some old OH genealogy newletters I found a 1980 query from someone looking for information on Joseph Stubbs whom Benjamin was living next door to in Springfield and I was guessing he was Rebecca's father. Circumstantial evidence of course. There was also a John Stubbs living a couple of families away. In this query was listed Joseph's birthdate and his father's name back in NY. So... back to NY I went.
There I was able to find William Stubbs and his sons as described in Walkill, Orange (Ulster), NY. The census records back then only tally the numbers of males in age brackets, etc. I found William Stubbs in 1790 census with 4 males under 16 years old.
Then in 1800, there were 1 male 45+ (William) and 2 males 26-45 and 3 males (16-26)(Joseph & John +1) and one 10-16
Then in 1810, there is 1 male 45+ (William) and only 1 male 26-45. However, I found a John Stubbs in Tioga County with two males 16-26 and a female 16-26, so this could be John & his unmarried brother Joseph, because...
In 1820, Joseph appears married right next door to John in Cayuta, Tioga, NY. Married with 5 children (2 males, 3 females all under 10)
Then in 1830, John as moved to Newfield, Tompkins, NY and now has 6 children ranging from under 5 to 20. But Joseph has moved to Greenwood, Steuben, NY and now has 9 children ranging from 2 under 5 to 20. The numbers and ages for both John and Joseph all line up from census to census.
Then in 1840 Joseph and John are both gone from NY, but they show up in Springfield, Williams, OH with the correct numbers of children.
So I'm wondering how Benjamin connected with them...
Well I decided to start investigating this David June in Allegany and I discovered that at his death, his surrogate was Henry R. June.
In 1830, there is a David June in Greenwood, Steuben, NY with a male 5-10 and a male 15-20.
Then in 1840, there is a David June in Greenwood with a male who is 20-30. And there is now a Henry R. June in Chemung who is 30-40. It would make sense that Henry is his son and surrogate.
Now we begin to see a possible connection. If Benjamin is David's son and is in Greenwood the same time as Joseph Stubbs w/his daughter Rebecca is in Greenwood, that would explain how Benjamin got to OH next door to Joseph in 1840!
I realize this is all circumstantial, but it's the closest I've gotten to connection Benjamin to anyone yet, and it is a lot of circumstantial evidence. He It appears that Benjamin R. June did quite a bit of moving around in his time. He was born in NY. He appears to have married and bore William June in OH. in the 1850 Census of Independence, Allegeny, NY with two more children, both born in Ohio. So it appears that he and Rebecca travelled to OH and returned to NY between 1840 and 1850. The family next appears in the 1860 Census of Williams Co, OH. There he only has only the two younger children, however, the oldest, William appears now married with two young children. The 1870 Census of Fairview, Livingston Co., MO shows the two families have now moved into MO. There is some conflict between census' as to where William was born. Some show OH, some show NY. He and Rebecca Stubbs appeared on the census of 1840 at Springfield, Williams, OH.20 He and Rebecca Stubbs appeared on the census of 22 Jul 1850 at Independence, Allegany, NY.21 He and Rebecca Stubbs appeared on the census of 9 Jul 1860 at Springfield, Williams, OH.22 He and Rebecca Stubbs appeared on the census of Sep 1870 at Fairview, Livingston, MO.

Organized in September, 1861, under Colonel Bradley, it went to Kentucky, and after the campaign of Mill Springs to Louisville, thence to Nashville, and that summer operated about Huntsville and Winchester, Tenn. The fall found it again at Louisville. In December it marched to Nashville and took part in the Tullahoma campaign in June 1863. After the battle of Mission Ridge it veteranized, and returned to take part in the Atlanta campaign, following from that time the fortunes of Sherman's army through to Savannah and thence northward. It was finally mustered out at Louisville, in July, 1865.
