Sidney first married Helen on May 1, 1892. They had two children, Ella and Walter Lee. Ella was only 14 when she died June 13, 1907, and Walter Lee died in 1980 at the age of 82.  Helen died January 5, 1908.

Sidney's second wife was Mary Edna LaRue Holland.  She was the daughter of Dr. Jesse Lafayette LaRue and Harriet Alydia Twogood, a Seneca Indian.  She was first married to James Leonard Holland, and they had six children.  James was a deputy marshal in Booneville.  He was shot to death on Christmas Day, 1906, in attempting to arrest a man creating a disturbance in a saloon.

Sidney and Mary married March 14, 1909. They had three children: Forrest, Duke, and Lola Fay Smith.  Both Sidney and Mary were living with their daughter Lola Fay in Arkoma, Oklahoma when they died.
