Abe was born in Jackson County, Alabama April 20, 1843.
During the Civil War, Abe served in Company H of the 26th Alabama Infantry for the Confederate Army. The 26th Infantry was in several major battles. A few were Williamsburg and Yorktown battles in April and May of 1862 and Gettysburg, July 1 - 3, 1863. The latter part of the war they fought in Peach Tree Creek July 20, 1864 and the Atlanta Siege July, August, and September in 1864.
Abraham married Cansada Collins in Jackson County, Alabama on May 28, 1871. The next nine years they farmed land west of Stevenson, Alabama. This is where five of their six children were born: Margaret "Maggie" April 20, 1872, James "Jim" April 22, 1874, Rebecca May 6, 1876, Martha March 28, 1878, and Sara July 17, 1880.
In the autumn of 1880 they moved to Carolan, Arkansas in Logan County along with Abe’s mother, father, and most of his brothers and sisters. In Carolan Charlie was born September 8, 1887.
They farmed in the Carolan area until Abe died May 13, 1916. After Abe died, Cansada lived with her children and grandchildren. She lived with her daughter Maggie, her sons Jim and Charlie, and, at one time, with her granddaughter Etta (Maggie’s daughter
