Sept. 30 Oct. 1 Homecoming,
Centennial Days at Broughton
The Centennial celebration and Homecoming will be held on the grounds of the Broughton Baptist Church.
SATURDAY
An old fashioned box supper auction will lead off the program from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Ladies are ask to bring a decorated box containing supper and eat with the man that buys the box. Ace Scott will be the auctioneer.
From 7 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. Saturday, a musical variety program has been planned to feature The Harmony Echoes, Darris and Sherry Wise, Audra and Virginia Hardesty and other surprise guests.
SUNDAY
From 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Sunday, visitors may attend Sunday school at one of the three churches in Broughton, Baptist, Methodist or Pentecost, or visit on the church lawn.
From 11 a.m. to noon, visitors are welcome to attend the joint church services at the Baptist Church or visit on the lawn.
Beginning at noon and until 1:30 p.m. lunch of free ham, beans, cornbread, slaw and apple pie will be served. Donations for lunch will be accepted.
At 1:30 p.m., the program includes music by the Hamiltonian Kitchen Band and by Gene and Earl Forrester. Gifts will be presented and a business meeting will be held at this time.
Serving on the Homecoming committee are Mr. and Mrs. Ron Gholson and Mr. and Mrs. Rick Moore. Page 6 B of this weeks Times-Leader depicts scenes and people of the town of Broughton and continues a History of the town written by Ron Gholson. The history will be concluded in next weeks Times Leader.
