Wed Fifty Years

On Sunday, March 7th, 1937, a host of friends and neighbors gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. T. James Allen, in Broughton, and helped them celebrate their golden wedding. Even Mother Nature helped by sending one of her most beautiful days to congratulate this good couple on their fifty years together.

The fragrance of beautiful flowers presented by friends, perfumed the rooms, and an abundance of nice cakes and other good things to eat, graced the table, where friends of their younger days sat with them. One of the guest was a lady, who was present at their wedding.

A nice program was given in the afternoon, consisting of talks by Mr. Allen, W.W. Daily, Harry Anderson, Earl Cran, Lee Irvin and others. Readings were given by Mrs. Mary Organ, Mrs. James Shoemaker, Mrs. W. D. Faries and Mrs. John Grable. Then everyone sang "God Be With You Till We Meet Again," and left this happy couple after wishing them many more happy years together.
