COPY OF THE WILL OF ELY GHOLSON DECD.

In the Name of God Amen. I Ely Gholson of the County of Hamilton & State of Illinois being weak in body but of sound mind & memory, do make ordain & Establish this to be my last will & testament hereby revoking all others & I do hereby appoint John Douglass to be the executor of this my last will & testament. First it is my will that all my just debts be paid that my undivided half of the mills & land belonging to them lying in the County of Hamilton & known as the South West Forty of the North West quarter Section No 15 Township No 7 Range No 7 East should be sold and payments made. If the above named mills & land should be insufficient it is then my will that my executor shall sell a sufficient of my personal property, Second after the payments of all my past debts, & funeral expenses I do hereby bequeath to my beloved wife the farm and improvement thereon which I now live on known as the North East quarter of Section No 17 Township No 7 Range No 7 East also the West half of the NW ¼ S 16 Township 7 R 7 Containing in all Two hundred & twenty acres more or less during her continueing my widow or till the youngest child becomes of age at which time it is my will that the above land shall be equally divided between my legal heirs to have & to hold the same unto them & their heirs & assigns for ever. To my wife I give all my household & kitchen furniture farming utensils & all other of my personal property after my debts is paid. In testimony where I have here unto set my hand & affixed my seal this 26th day of May in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight hundred & forty one.
