Daniel M. Heard Killed By Train

Daniel M. Heard, aged 43 a resident of this city, was killed by an Illinois Central train at Belleville, Ill., Saturday morning. Trainmen who found the body which was badly mutilated, were forced to shoot a dog which guarded the body so courageously that two trains were delayed. Identification was made by Mrs. Herman Glade of Belleville, a sister of Heard.

The deceased is survived by a widow and several small children who reside in this city.

The body was brought here Saturday and funeral services were held at Middle Creek church Sunday. Interment was made in the cemetery near by.
