Hilda Parsons Obituary

Breshilda Inez Gayle, only daughter of William Wallace and Matilda (Mitchell) Gayle was born Lincoln Ind. Nov. 2, 1861 and departed this life at her home in Broughton June 12, 1947 at the age of 85 yrs 7 months & 10 days.

On March 4, 1877 she was united in marriage to Marion Porter and they were blessed with one child, Marion Jr. Her companion preceded her in death in 1878.

In the beautiful month of June 1, 1879 she was united in marriage to Finis Parsons. Nine children were born to this happy union, four of whom preceded her in death on June 16, 1921. she leaves to mourn her passing five children, Oscar Parsons, Lillian Warden, Bill Parsons, Nell McMahon and Louise Freet, one brother, William C. Gayle, 27 grand children, 27 great grand children, 1 great great grand child and a large host of friends & relatives. At the age of 10 she moved to Hamilton County and has spent the remainder of her life in or near Broughton. Funeral services were held at the Broughton Baptist Church June 14, 1947 and internment was in Big Hill Cemetery. Rev. Smith was the officiating clergy at both services.
