James D. (Penny) Pennington

James D. (Penny) Pennington, 77, of 863 Big Four St., Eldorado, died at 2:45 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary Medical Center in Evansville.

He was born in Broughton on June 24, 1914, to the late Tom and Myrtle Pennington.

He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion, past member of Broughton Masonic Lodge. He was active in Thoroughbred horse racing.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; a son, Mike Pennington of Lexington, Ky.; three step-sons, the Rev. Bill Gholson of Charleston; a step-daughter, Phyllis Ann Ego of Eldorado; a sister, Betty Lassater of Broughton; two grandchildren, Amanda and Kristin Lee; seven step-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bobbie Gaines Pennington and a sister, Chloe Carter.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado, where visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Bob Dickerson will officiate and burial will be in Douglass Cemetery with military rites.
