Robert L. "Bob" Gholson, 81 of McLeansboro and formerly of Broughton, died at 11:15 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 21, 1997, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital. He was a retired truck driver.

He was born on March 13, 1916, in Hamilton County, a son of Frank and Mabel (Donelson) Gholson. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

The funeral was at 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 29, at Gholson Funeral Home. The Rev. Bill Gholson officiated. Burial was in Gholson Cemetery near Broughton. Graveside military rites were performed by American Legion Post 106.

He is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Gholson and wife Julie of Long Beach, Calif., and Geremy Gholson of Davidson, Mich.; a stepson, David Williams of Fenton Mich.; a daughter, Jillian Gunn and husband Thomas of Grand Rapids, Mich.; a stepdaughter, Loretta Thornton and husband Doyce of Panama City, Fla.; a brother, Roland Gholson of Vale, Ore.; five grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a half-brother and two wives, Helen Forro and Etta M. Trinkhaus.
