Obituary

Dora Ila Ellis, daughter of Hiram and Nancy Ellis, born May 2, 1878, died June 22, 1945, aged 67 years, 1 month 20 days.

She was married to George Otis Cotter Febreuary 12, 1901. to this union five children were born: Ralph Stanford Cotter of Broughton; Pauline Hayes of East St. Louis; James Cotter of East St. Louis and Nora Cantrell of Broughton, and Mayme Flannigan, who preceded her in death in 1940. She leaves two brothers: Ambrose Ellis of Troy, Ill. and Dr. James J. Ellis of West Frankfort. One brother, John Ellis and one sister, Mary Jones, preceded her in death.

She also leaves seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter and many other relatives and friends.

She professed a hope in Christ in the year of 1895 and united with the Long Branch Baptist church. In later years she moved her membership to Hickory Hill. When the family moved to Chester, Ill., she became a charter member of the First Baptist church there, which was organized in 1929, and remained a member there until death.

She was a devoted wife and mother. She often expressed her hope in a better life than this.
