This sign was brought to the 2003 school reunion and donated by Joe Neal Irvin. His daughter bought the sign in Golconda. Early Broughton postal employees included Arthur Wilson and his brother Fred who was postmaster. Fred later ran the elevator in town. Rick Moore has some old insurance account books for policies sold in and around Broughton that date from the late teens to the early 20's. Arthur Dawes was the agent in the earliest ones and Wilson the later ones. Although there were different companies represented, Hartford was not among them. Rick is guessing that this sign dates from the mid to late 20's. At some point Arthur was an agent for Hartford in Harrisburg.
