Floyd Gholson Dies; Rites Held Saturday

Services for Floyd Baudway Gholson were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Donelson funeral home with the Rev. Hugh Widick officiating. Burial was in the IOOF Cemetery at McLeansboro.

Mr. Gholson, 82, of McLeansboro, died at 7:30 p.m. last Thursday, Jan. 25, 1962 at the Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro.

He was born Aug. 29, 1879 in Hamilton county, the son of Dr.James and Louisa (Dawes) Gholson.

He was married 5 times. He first married Aug. 14, 1901 to Mrs. Mary A. Douglas.

May 11, 1902 he married Emily Caroline (Viers) Wilson. Surviving children of this union are Mrs. Mary Boyer, of McLeansboro, and Rev. James Everett Gholson of East Alton.

His wife Emily died in 1927 and he married Harriet Catherine Kennedy, Davis, Sparks. After her death he married in 1945 to Francis Berry of Iron county Missouri. His last marriage was to Polly Chelf Trout, who survives. He is also survived by six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Gholson was a member of the Star General Baptist church of near Eldorado.
