Services Held Today For Mattie Barker

Services for Mrs. Mattie Barker, 90, Broughton, were held Thursday (today) at 2 p.m. at the Broughton Baptist Church, of which she was a member, with Rev. Bob Jones officiating. Burial was in Little Springs Cemetery.

Mrs. Barker died Monday, Sept. 19, at 4 p.m. at the local hospital.

She was born in Hamilton County, Aug. 25, 1876. Her parents were Zachery and Una (Barker) Allen. She married Allen Barker Oct. 20, 1896. He preceded her in death.

Surviving is one son, Dock C. Barker, Broughton; three daughters, Mrs. Una Treadwell, Alton; Mrs. Vina Mathis, Broughton; Mrs. Irene Voshel, Grand Haven, Mich., one sister Leda Fee, Knoxville, Iowa; one brother, Lincoln Allen, St. Louis, Mo.; two half brothers, John and Frank Allen, both of Broughton; two half sisters, Unus Johnson, Roxanna and Grace Nipper, Belleville; one step sister, Ella Allen, Thompsonville; one step brother Lonnie Fouch, Galatia; 15 grand children, 18 great grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.

The Gholson Funeral Home was in charge.
