Services Held Tuesday For Julia Ann Towle

Services for Mrs. Julia Ann Towle, 82, of Broughton, were conducted Tuesday at 2:30 p.m from the Gholson Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Jones officiating.

Burial was in the Old Prairie cemetery near Norris City.

Mrs. Towle died at 6:40 a.m. Sunday in the hospital here, leaving 64 decendants.

Mrs. Towle was born Dec. 23, 1882, in Hamilton county, the daughter of William T. and Sarah J. (Hale) English.

She was first married to Joe R. Evans, who preceded her in death. She later married Alex M. Towle, who survives. Other survivors include three sons, J. Arnold Evans of Benton, Ark., Aubrey Evans of Belleville, Ill., and Alex J. Towle, Jr., of McLeansboro; two daughters, Mrs. Vivian Clark of Benton, Ark., and Mrs. Freda Bradley of East St. Louis; a brother, John English of Broughton; 35 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Towle was a member of the Hickory Hill Baptist Church.

Also surviving are five step-children, Marshall Towle, Frank Towle, Mrs. Cleda Hamilton, Mrs. Molly Brown and Beulah Lach.
