Charles Heard

Charles E. Heard, 78, of East Alton, died at noon Wednesday, Sept. 24, 1986, at Wood River Township Hospital, after a short illness.

He was born in Harrisburg, the son of the late Edick and Mary Jane (Tedford) Heard.

He was a roll helper at Olin Corp. for 42 years and retired in 1972.

Survivors include his wife, the former Elizabeth Strain; a daughter, Charlene Barr of Arvada, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Sharon Brozowski of Creal Springs and Joan York of Eldorado; four grandchildren; three great-grandchioldren; and a sister, Ethel Gholson of East Alton.

Visitation will be from noon Friday until service time at 2 p.m at Gray Funeral Home in Wood River. Rev. Herman Strader will officiate. Burial will be at Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana.

Memorials may be given to a charity of one's choice.
