Mary Ann Gholson Pennington

Mary Ann Gholson Pennington, 88, of Eldorado, died 7:31 A.M. Thursday, Sept. 1, 2005 at St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville, Ind.

Services will be held 1 P.M. Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005 at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Bob Dickerson officiating. Burial will be in Hickory Hill Cemetery near Broughton. Visitation is 11 A.M to service time Saturday at the Funeral Home.

She was born Jan. 3, 1917, in Broughton to the late Rev. Nathan Everett and Nell (Lemay) Turpin. On July 14, 1934, she married Rex Gholson whom she was married to for 55 years before he preceded her in death. On May 30, 1990, she married James D. "Penny" Pennington who also preceded her in death.

She was a member of Eldorado First Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and worked in the food service industry for many years.

She is survived by two sons, the Rev. Bill (Pauline) Gholson, of Vienna and Ronnie Gholson of Charleston, a daughter, Phyllis Ann (Bob) Cox of Eldorado, seven grandchildren, Christine (Frank) Meade of Vienna, Carolyn (Don) Foster of Chandler, Ariz, Roger Gholson of Mesa, Ariz, Rodney (Karri Beth) Gholson of Vienna, Meredith (John) Clough of Charleston, Ashley Gholson of Mattoon, and Ronda Ego of Harrisburg, eight great grandchildren and three step grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and both husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, Fred Gholson, and a granddaughter, Donna Kay Ego.
