OBITUARY

Mrs. Minnie Barker Vessel

Mrs. Minnie Barker Vessel, daughter of Robert and America Barker, was born in Hamilton County near Broughton, Dec. 29, 1890 and died at her home in Hartford, Illinois Feb. 27, 1948, after a long illness.

She was united in marriage to Al Vessel Feb. 28, 1909, at Broughton. Soon after their marriage, they moved to Alton where they spent most of their married life.

She professed faith in Christ at an early age and united with the Methodist Church at Broughton. Later she and her husband united with the First M. E. Church at Alton. About 13 years ago they moved to Hartford, Ill., and they moved their membership to the M. E. church there.

Besides her husband she is survived by two sisters Mrs. L. P. Edwards of Wood River, Ill., and Mrs. O. C. Echols of Urbana, Ill., and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at the Streeper Funeral Home in Alton by the Rev. L. Miller of Hartford church, assisted by the Rev. Paul Brown of the first Methodist Church at Alton.

Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery.
