George O Irvin 1918 - 2006

 

 

George O. Irvin, 87, of Broughton died 2:25 a.m. Jan. 30, 2006, at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado.

He was a retired farmer. Mr. Irvin was born Aug. 27, 1918, in Hamilton County to Edgar and Oma (Davis) Irvin. He first married Vera Belle (Wheeler) Irvin: she preceded him in death. He later married Linda Irvin: she survives.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro. The Revs. Randall Ragan and Mike Glenn will officiate. Burial will follow at Hickory Hill Cemetery in Broughton.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro. Mr. Irvin is survived by his wife, Linda Irvin of Broughton; a stepson, Todd Glenn of McLeansboro; a stepdaughter, Valerie Grantley of Memphis, Tenn.; three sisters-in-law, Ruby Irvin Hall of McLeansboro, Emma Dee Irvin of McLeansboro and Beverly Wheeler of Romeoville; three step grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife; his parents; an infant daughter; three brothers; and five sisters.

Mr. Irvin was a member of Dale Pentecost Church.
