BROUGHTON

Helen M. Smiley, 88, died at 5:10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 31, 2008, in Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado.

Services will be at 3 p.m today in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Crab Orchard.

Helen was a homemaker.

She was a 50-year member of Rebeko Lodge in Marion. she was also a member of Crab Orchard United Methodist Church.

Helen was born Sept. 21, 1920, in Carterville to William Watson and Stella (Thomas) Watson.

She married Carl Smiley on Aug. 3, 1945. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include daughters, Patsy (Michael) Simpson of Broughton.

She was preceded in death by daughter, Mary Lou Pearce; three brothers; three sisters; and one grandchild, Melissa Chapelain of Allegan, Mich.
