Vernon Ray Mayberry

Vernon Ray Mayberry, 66, of rural Broughton, died 4:10 p.m. Tuesday Feb. 19, 2008, at Charlier Hospice, Evansville, Ind.

Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008, at Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado with the Rev. Bill Gholson officiating. Burial will be in Digby Cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, 2008, at the funeral home.

He was born July 24, 1941, in McLeansboro to Peary and Ruth (Wheeler) Mayberry. On Nov. 27, 1959, he married Phyllis Hayter, who survives in Broughton.

He was self-employed in the farming and trucking business. He was a member of Broughton Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Marvin (Mary) Mayberry of Eldorado and Ray (Summer) Mayberry of Broughton; five brothers, Bill (Jackie) Mayberry of Evansville, Ind., Bobby (Barb) Mayberry of Brougton, Tom (Carol) Mayberry of California, Donnie (Virginia) Mayberry of Bluford and John (Brenda) Mayberry of Eldorado; many nieces and nephews; and four grandchildren, Mitchell, Megan, Justin and Tyler.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Mayberry.
