Thomas David Grable,

 

 

Thomas David Grable, son of Henry and Janie Grable, was born in Saline County, Ill., Dec. 20th, 1855, departed this life April 11th, 1922, at 2 P. M., at his home in Broughton, being aged 66 years, 3 months and 21 days. He was married to Alice Hardesty, March 8, 1888. To this union four children were born, all of whom survive him.

He has lived his entire life in Saline and Hamilton counties. Every one who knew him, knew him as an honorable man faithful to his family and his many friends.

He was not a member of any church, but believed in the teachings of the Missionary Baptist Church. He had expressed himself to his family and friends that he had no fear for his eternal welfare, that he had made peace with his Maker long ago.

His father, mother, two brothers, Charlie and Willie, two sisters, Mrs. Bettie Hardesty, Mrs. Rachel Gunter and one granddaughter, Imagene Erwin have preceded him in death.

The deceased leaves to mourn his departure, his wife and four daughters, Mrs. T. A. Johnson of Jefferson Barracks, Mo., Mrs. A. H. Erwin of St Louis, Mo., Ruth and Elsie of Broughton, a brother, Robert L. Grable, and sister, Urslie Ann Smith, 2 grandchildren, beside other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services was conducted at the Baptist church at Broughton, by Rev. Ralph Daily, after which the body was laid to rest in the New Hickory Hill Cemetery, to await the coming of the Lord.
