Silvetta Parsons, 89, died at 7:05 a.m. on April 7, 2010, in Delavan, Wis.
Silvetta was an avid genealogist. She loved
gardening, crafts, home-making and she was devoted to her family.
She was a member of the Methodist Church, belonged to the Samuel
Elder chapter of the DAR, Southern Illinois Genealogy Society and
the Illinois State Genealogy Society. For many years she was
active in the affairs of her hometown of Broughton in a variety
of capacities. (From obituary)
Silvetta tried her best to preserve history, copying by hand old documents, records, ledgers of others as well as researching her own genealogy. She loved sharing these things with everyone and we are all blessed because of her work and numerous contributions to the Broughton web site.
As for her time-line, she was a historian on the village of Broughton, as she knew about everyone in town and where they lived. (See I Remember Broughton) Once, while talking to Silvetta on the phone, I asked her how she knew so much about Broughton. She said, whenever she met someone from Broughton, she felt they were a walking piece of history. She enjoyed their stories and their piece of history of Broughton. She will be missed.
