Obituary

Angeline Johnson, daughter of Mose and Martha E. Johnson of Twigg Township, Hamilton County, Illinois, was born the 24th day of June, 1854; departed this life November 21, 1937. Age 83 years, 4 months and 27 days.

She was united in marriage to John T. Lemay on April 25, 1878. To this union eleven children were born, seven having passed her to the great beyound. Those surviving are: Sheridan Lemay of Broughton, Ill., James T. Lemay of St. Louis, Mo., Lucy Roark of Memphis, Tenn., and Beatrice Delapp of Foxboro Mass. She was also a devoted mother to the following step children; Mary Ann and Martha E. of Cairo, Ill., and Marion Lemay of Muncie, Ind. The last two named, still survive her. Besides those mentioned there are 28 grandchildren 11 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends who mourn their loss but which is her gain.

She professed faith in Christ early in life, united with the Presbyterian Church in the old Union Church house of Broughton, Ill. In 1870 when the first Baptist Church of Broughton was organized, she became a charter member and continued a faithful and active worker as long as health permited.

Her husband, John T. Lemay, was a deacon in the church from the time it was established until his death. During those years he devoted much time, energy and finance to its success, and his devoted companion was always willing an eager to do her share in assisting her husband to make a success of his efforts as deacon of the church. Their home was always open to preachers and was some times referred to by them as the Ranch.

Their home was always open to anyone in need and distress and many who entered with a dark cloud found the silver lining they were looking for before they left this home.

Rest in peace, Aunt Ann for while your work on earth is ended your many act of kindness and unselfishness will live on for a long time in the memory of your host of friends.
